Photographs mostly taken from a balcony of a house hanging about 95 meter over the sea. Rocks, waves, clouds, whales and dolphins and always changing moods - my encounter with nature.

Hard not to keep photographing the ever new sunsets :)
Not too much zoom but one can get the idea of the level of the activity. The dolphins are endlessly fascinating.
On a calm and sunny day this can be so clear that the blue will dazzle you.

Serious flood damage in the area but not right close to us.

Near the bottom of the cliff/dune, there are some caves.

Apart from all the action in the sea, we also have some land creatures: two puffadders chasing each other.
Taken a while ago but we often see snakes - mostly puffadders. As long as you do not step on them they are not a problem.
A while before this blog was started, a huge fish was caught off the rocks below the cliff. 50 kg Cob. It was quite a job for the fishermen to haul it up the 95 meter !

Still winter - stingy little morning sun beginning to catch the waves from the shadows.

Clouds play their part
Strange things happen
From the little east balcony
Often big banks of mist come rolling in and can reach the house in about half an hour from where the mist is located now.
To the left of the big rock. Certain times of the year, big amounts of sand are deposited and we see "beach" where we usually see waves.
Sunsets are magic
Storm sea and light
Some sort of a navy ship (Corvette?) - was at that time very recent acquisition of the South African navy.

Forming up again into those V-formations
Large flocks of Cape Cormorants can be seen flying very low above the waves (about one meter above the water), in V-formations. At times they land on the water and first feed for a while before re-forming their V-formations and flying further on their route.
Late afternoon - east corner of the house
Looking back onto our beach from a walk on the cliff.
Humans flying by
We get some wild storms in winter
On the balcony - another sun set
View to the west
A part of the beach - right "under" our cliff
From my studio - to the east
More whales
Whale coming up quite near the rocks - between July and September we see Southern Right whales most days.
From the balcony : dolphins - year round
From the dunes above looking down at the house - from where it is pretty steeply down 95 meters to the sea.
